Mold and Moisture

This lesson describes common moisture and mold problems that may exist before a home is weatherized or that may develop as a result of weatherization activities. Prospective workers will first examine the biology of mold growth, and then will learn about possible health effects, as well as practical prevention methods for mold growth.

At the conclusion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Identify the impact of weatherization activities
  • Explain how mold grows
  • Determine ways of detecting mold in a home
  • Identify the pathways for water entering a home
