Crew Management

Part of a crew chief's job entails the successful management of the installers that report to him or her. A well-run crew understands what is expected, not only regarding weatherization work but also pertaining to interactions with homeowners and fellow workers. In addition, a crew chief must manage the inventory of materials and supplies needed to sustain the day-to-day work of a weatherization crew.

After finishing the lesson, crew chiefs will be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of employee management
  • Understand the importance of telling employees what is expected of them
  • Identify reasons for documenting the performance of crew members
  • Describe a well-stocked inventory of weatherization supplies and materials
