Quality Control

Crew chiefs need to understand that a weatherization job isn't finished until the quality-control inspector has visited a house and competed a final inspection. The inspector's job is to verify that the work was done professionally and meets the protocols mandated by the agency. By looking at the "end goal," this lesson demonstrates how quality of work can have an effect on crew member promotions and homeowner satisfaction, as well as the continued funding of the weatherization program itself.

After finishing the lesson, crew chiefs will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of a quality-control inspection
  • Describe what a quality-control inspector does
  • Understand what happens if a house fails a quality-control inspection
