Initial Blower Door Analysis

The initial blower door readings provide the auditor with a significant amount of information about how well- sealed the home is, if there are catastrophic air leaks that must be sealed right away, and the overall strategy for creating a work order for the weatherization team. Taking the time to evaluate the initial blower door readings can give the auditor a jump-start on completing the work order and effectively identifying any significant issues with the home.

After completing this lesson, auditors will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of the initial blower door test
  • Discuss what CFM50 means in relation to airtightness
  • Troubleshoot the blower door test and reach 50 Pascals
