Duct-Induced Air Pressure

If a forced air duct system has not been properly designed, installed, and sealed it can create negative or positive pressures in various rooms or zones. The adverse effects of these duct-induced pressures include indoor air quality and health problems, comfort issues, and reduced building durability.

After completing this lesson, auditors will be able to:

  • Explain the concept of duct-induced air pressure, as well as the problems associated with air pressure imbalances within the home
  • Explain the causes of duct-induced air pressure imbalances, and how to identify them
  • Initiate the proper work plan to correct duct-induced air pressure imbalances
